Game 1 Cooperstown at Skokie
Weaver vs Cain      Skokie started out as a house on fire as Upton lead over with a HR and Berkmanhit one and it was 4-0 after the first but never count out Cooperstown with Gonzalez and Kemp and Company slowly but surely they started to bat away and Gonzalez, Kemp and
Hart hit homers and by the end of
5 it was 5-5 - then in the 6th Cooperstown put across two more as Skokie used 4 pitchers to stop them - but then Schierholtz hitting
for Upton in the bottom of the 6th hits two in after Ethier misseda homer 1-13 and we were tied at 7-7
In the bottom of the 8th still tied, it was like the smallest of a mouse, totally noticable is facing the mighty Uehara, almost unhittable and
Orlando Hudson, who Orlando Hudson 4-9 on the pitchers card) hits a solo Homer and even thought Adams gets
week in the 9th, Skokie stays with their ace reliever (2-1/3 of 1 hit ball) and the fans go crazy - 8-7 Skokie wins.

Hi CBA brothers

we just finished game 3 and the games are amazin
Skokie really honors the skill, sportsmanship and team
of Cooperstown - although they are thinking to change
their name to the Silver Bullets

game 2 Cooperstown has a 2-0 lead, the teams
are not hitting, Tulo hits a two run homer to tie it
2-2 - bottom of the 8th Hudson tries to be a hero
again with Bourgeois on 2nd he singles but
McCann blocks the plate - however in the bottom
of the 9th - Aviles on 2 B scores on a single by
Molina and scores 3-2 Skokie, another 1 run game

game 3 in Cooperstown Ramirez homers 1-0 but
then Molina knocks in a run to tie - then Beltre
hits 2 homers - 3-1 Skokie bottom of the 9th

first hit walks/single, then 2 outs, 2b by Betemit
2nd and 3rd down 3-1 - 2 outs, next hitter walks,
single (on ballpark single) 3-2 and then either
Beltran or Gonzalez bases loaded 2 outs, Holland
pitching, K - 3-2 Skokie just barely

game 4 coming up - rematch Cain and Weaver

Wolfman with Jon what a great series!!

Jered Weaver racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the Cooperstown
Iron Horses smashed the overmatched Skokie Wolfmen, 13 to 0.

Weaver(1-0) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Skokie batters. He allowed only 4 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings reducing his
ERA from 12.60 to 4.50. The Cooperstown offense man-handled the Skokie
pitching staff as they scored in 7 of the 9 innings.

Matt Cain(0-1) took the loss. He was touched for 16 hits and 3 walks in 8
innings. The Cooperstown fans were thrilled by the performance put forth by
Weaver, but it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most. 'When he
reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a loud
cheer.' Jon Stamets said following the game.

as left from last night,
Skokie was up 3 games to 1
after winning their 3 games by 1 run each

it was Game 5, Cooperstown, after their 13-0 blowout killing the Wolfmen with their ace Cain the momentum favored Cooperstown
plus Skokie had no choice they had to go with Lilly, HR-Lilly so with Hudson for the Ironhorses who pitched very well in game 2 - it was all Cooperstown but Skokie had a plan which they formulated
in Game 4 which is why they left Cain to pitch the whole game, save their relief innings

In the first inning both teams got runs on but couldn't bring them in - in the 2nd inning Cooperstown threatened again so Skokie brought in Casilla who they hoped
could go four innings and he did, shutout innings

In the 3rd inning, the Wolfmen loaded the bases
and a wild pitch brought in their first run - if this
was going to be another game like game 2 and
3 with few runs - it might hold 1-0 Skokie

in the 4th RBI King for Skokie who had been
quiet in the series Texieria who Skokie traded
Holiday to get launched a homer to make it 2-0 Skokie

in the bottom of the 7th, with Adams pitching - Molina
hit a single and Ramirez launched his 2nd homer of
the series (4-5 on Adams card) and it was now 2-2.
The Cooperstown fans were estactic as Skokie
was unable to hit Hudson --

then Texieria came up again in the 9th, Manager
decided to bring in Fuentes who is very strong
versus a righty and Texieria again (this move
cost Cooperstown the game but wait) hits
a 2nd homer (6-11 on Fuentes) to give Skokie
for the 3rd time a 3-2 lead/win in the 9th

Adams is tired so Wolfman brings in Holland
who has saved his butt before - the first two
men are out - but then next hitter saves
Cooperstown and doubles, then next hitter
walks - then Holland throughs a wild pitch,
2nd and 3rd two outs, tying and winning
runs on - the next hitter walks

so just like game 3 - bases loaded with 2 outs,
the tying and winning runs on base, Holland
pitching and facing Cabera - roll of 2-6 -
Holland strikes him out - SKOKIE wins, SKOKIE
wins!!

Even though Skokie won one more game then
Cooperstown, they were 5-7 vs. the Ironhorses
in the season and Cooperstown had three other
tough teams in their division - Skokie walked away
with their division and clinched it first going 53-13
against their teams - so no way Skokie should
have won but why did they

because: Game 1 down 7-5 they came back to tie
the game and Hudson homers (this was the weakness
of Cooperstown if there was a weakness that their relievers
had high homes)

Game 2 - able to hold Cooperstown to 2 runs - they
scored enough to win - using speed and strategy

Game 3 - Cooperstown had it in the 9th, bases loaded,
two outs but Holland struck out the final hitter - close call

Game 4 - un-pent up energy - Skokie knew there
was a blow out due --

Game 5 - again a close game, good pitching and defense,
a mistake of bringing in the wrong pitcher to face Texieria
is what cost Cooperstown this game and again luck to hold
off their rally with Holland

We want to acknowledge Jon as a great manager, if he was
able to get a little more hitting, it would be him writing this
report - Skokie got by, by the skin of their teeth - we didn't
see consistent hitting and this could hurt us in future rounds

this was the most nerve racking series I have ever played
with 4 very very close games but appreciate for this weekend
just as the Yankees, Giants and Cardinals all had great games
five, we had the luck of the Wolfish

is this Skokie's year - don't know, did the trades which brought
us Holland, Aviles, Uggla, Beckman help us - don't know - but
how many years can we go returning to the playoffs -

First baseman Mark Teixeira launched 2 homeruns and Santiago Casilla delivered
4 solid innings as the Skokie Wolfmen outscored the Cooperstown Iron Horses 3
to 2.

The game was won by Skokie when they scored a run in the top of the 9th
inning. Teixeira delivered a solo blast. Adrian Beltre followed, but he was
set down on strikes. One out later, Endy Chavez got his chance to keep
things going, but he went down on strikes. Skokie banged out 8 hits on the
night.

The victory was credited to Mike Adams(2-0) who went 3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Greg Holland preserved the game for Adams, recording his his 2nd. The
loss was charged to Brian Fuentes(0-1) in relief.
