CBA Ohio Thundercats Roster 2015

 CBA Ohio Thundercats History page

The Ohio Outlawz are still enjoying their 2014 Championship, but are not remaining silent in the transaction department. The team only made 3 moves during the hot stove months, and it all involved pitching. The Outlawz pitching staff took some huge hits between injuries and sub-par performances in 2014. Two of the top pitchers last year, Buchholz and Nolasco were awful in 2014, especially Nolasco (useless this year). And, one of the hero's in the play-offs, closer Jim Johnson, hit the skids and is lucky to still be in the Majors (Atlanta signed him in December). Additionally, 3 of Outlawz young pitchers suffered injuries and setbacks. So, the team was left with Mike Leake and Eric Stults as the remaining starters. Owner/GM Kenan knew he had to make some quick decisions on the franchise direction and deal accordingly. The first move was to acquire Aaron Harang from Bryan for a draft pick and then acquire Scott Feldman for another draft pick from Montreal. Neither of these were blockbuster moves but gave the Outlawz much needed innings. Owner, Kenan, stated "Harang and Feldman gives us 2 reliable and healthy arms, that can hopefully produce 180-200 innings each. Then, in a bold move, Owner Kenan shocked the Outlawz Nation with the trade of Billy Hamilton, Carlos Martinez and pitching prospect, Robert Stephenson in exchange for Huston Street, Anibal Sanchez and a draft pick to the Carolina Copperheads. Owner, Kenan said, "we needed a top tier closer and a top of the rotation pitcher, and I feel that we achieved our goal, the asking price was steep, but it should hopefully pay big dividends for our play-off hopes.

Offensively, the Outlawz look solid with returning starters, Buster Posey, Jose Altuve, Freddie Freeman, Denard Span, Alex Gordon, Matt Holliday, Erick Aybar, Seth Smith and Lonnie Chisenhall. The team doesn't possess any huge HR threats, but it makes up for it with solid hitters and good on base skills. And, this is a good recipe in the pitcher friendly Outlawz park which tends to greatly neutralize opposing sluggers.

The Outlawz main concern going forward with the draft is to bolster the bullpen with some quality arms and to fill some back up roles. The team is lacking some draft picks with the off-season transactions and is still open to any possible offers, but has no plans to break up the core of the team. Alex Gordon, the unofficial team captain, was quoted " this team is the best bunch of guys to play with, no ego's, unselfish and always having fun, it was a dream come true winning the Championship, and I'm hungry for more."

The Outlawz should be a strong player again in 2015 and won't fly under the radar this time. It should be a very competitive race in the Monday division this year.
