Philly Phantastics

1997

1999-2006

The Philly Phantastics are one of CBA's original teams.  Owned by Rob Hite, the Philly team is on top or near top of several historic statistical catagories.  Legendary teams with legendary performances.  Randy Johnson owns several key pitching Cy Young awards and a few individual pitcher records along the way. See the records archive link for more.  Philly is the 2002 and 2007 CBA World Champion.

As a team Philly has had several outstanding offensive seasons that are near the top of CBA's records.  Team batting average, HR, runs, RBI's, the Phans are in the top ten several times through the years.  Philly has been to the dance (World Series) a few times. Most recently losing to Longue Pointe in 2005.  They won the championship in 2002 setting offensive and pitching records along the way. Lost to Claude LeMarre's Longue Pointe in 2000 when they won a CBA record 120 wins  That total only two years removed from their inaugural seasons dismal 48-114.

The Philly Phantastics batters feasted on the Portland Sea Dogs pitching at
Ameriquest Field. The final score was a lop-sided 18 to 8.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Derek Jeter. He doubled knocking in a run in the 2nd inning,
cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 17th of the season) in the 3rd
inning and doubled in the 7th inning. Philly bats were very productive in
the 3rd inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 4 hits and the 8th inning when
they had 6 runs on 3 hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5
different innings was still not enough for Portland to come away with the
victory.

The win was credited to Oliver Perez(13-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing
6 runs. The losing pitcher was Jake Westbrook(7-7). He allowed a few too
many baserunners giving up 6 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.

WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Johnny Estrada blocked the plate, saving a run!

Aramis Ramirez blasted a homerun and had 5 RBI at Kauffman Stadium as the
Philly Phantastics belted the reeling Alamo City Flames by the count of 20 to
8.

Ramirez had a big day against Alamo City. He slapped a base-hit which was
good for two runs in the 1st inning, lofted a three-run bomb (his 27th of the
season) in the 2nd inning and lined a single in the 9th inning. Philly
provided plenty of action in the 1st inning with 5 runs on 3 hits and the 2nd
inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits. Despite scoring in 5 separate
innings, Alamo City could not get the win.

The victory was credited to Mike Maroth(6-4) who went 8 innings, allowing 7
runs. Jeff Weaver(4-8) suffered the loss. He allowed 3 hits and 1 walk in
2/3 of an inning.
