I'm Joe Wallace, 52 years old and a life long Southern Californian.  Growing up in the San Diego area, I've always had a life long love for baseball as both a spectator and as a light hitting little league and high school player who could take my glove out to the field and give the team a good effort at any position. Beloved San Diego super-sub Kurt Bevacqua certainly had nothing on me.  My father worked for an advertising sponsor of the Padres during my childhood, so we put our comp tickets to good use during the summers and ultimately attended about 1/4 of all home games.  I still have pleasant dreams of the prodigious home runs Nate Colbert used to hit out of San Diego Stadium, as well as Randy Jones nasty sinkerball.   I always thought I could manage the Padres roster better than their real life performance, which is how I ultimately discovered the joy of the strat-o-matic board game as an adolescent and teen.  After many years of away from strat gaming, I got back into it in the mid-90s with the birth of the PC versions.

I'm proud to be part of such a great strat-o-matic online league as the CBA.  I've been in CBA for 13 yrs now, and have enjoyed the challenge of building a lovable loser into a winner. This is what I've tried to do with the San Diego Surf franchise, who were devoid of talent and any real direction when I acquired them.  I made more than a few trades, and invested time honing off my eye for talent scouting to re-build the team into a winner.   Winning has become the norm for the Surf with guys like Jake Peavy, Robinson Cano, and David Wright serving as my franchise anchors for some very memorable seasons in the past  6 years.  We find ourselves in the playoffs perennially, but have yet to break through to win a championship despite some very strong runs at claiming the crown.  Until that goal is met, there is still much hard work to be done in the Surf front office.

My time and energy outside of baseball simulations is spent in my role of global production operations management for a multinational company, which often involves travel.  In recent years I've spent quite a bit of time in Japan, South Korea, and calling on vendors all over the West Coast.  Outside of  work and strat-o-matic gaming, I enjoy time on the water, golfing, tennis, and traveling with the family.  I live in La Jolla California with my wife and we have 2 daughters, one in high school and one a rising college sophomore.

In addition to my lovable losers San Diego Padres, I'm also a big San Diego Chargers fan and root for my alma mater San Diego State University whenever I have the chance.
've attached a photo of myself taken in front of the Matsumoto Castle in Matsumoto, Japan.

Josh Bard smacked 2 homeruns as the San Diego Surf crushed the Indiana
Redbirds 23 to 4.

Bard was unconscious all evening.  The Indiana fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He singled
which plated a run in the 3rd inning, doubled knocking in a run in the 3rd
inning, delivered a one-base hit which plated a run in the 5th inning,
launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 6th inning and depressed the partisan
hometown fans with a grand slam home run (his 4th of the season) in the 7th
inning.  San Diego bats were hot in the 3rd inning with 8 runs on 8 hits and
the 7th inning plating 5 runs.  San Diego finished with 18 hits while Indiana
ended up with 11.

The win was credited to Jake Peavy(16-8) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 4
runs. John Smoltz(10-15) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 5 runs in 2
innings of work.

'I had good swings tonight,' Bard said, 'Everything felt right'.
