Original CBA team Southwest Lizard Kings make their long awaited return to CBA. The name returns to the franchise after 7 years. The original franchise Southwest California Lizard Kings were one of the strongest teams of early CBA. In 1997 drafted Southwest California Lizard Kings Eric Lindner

Led by guys like Jeff Cirillo, Dave Clark, Cecil Fielder {27 Hr but a .190 BA, Dave Magadan, John Valentin, Kevin Stocker, and crew led the Lizard Kings to a winning record of 96-67 winning their Monday division by a whopping 16 games. That team hit tons batting .282 with 223 HR's enroute to the playoffs in the then Monday division. That year the 1997 season featured 2 conferences Taub and Clemente with 3 divsions for each. Clemente had the addtional Monday while Staub had the Raines. Southwest LK eventually reached the Conference playoffs only to be defeated by Dan Noonan's Louisville MobSquad 4 games to 3. Not content to sit idle the Lizard Kings made several trades moving their #1 and 2 draft picks for Matt Morris and building toward another playoff run in 1998. They changed their logo to

and went about their business winning a wildcard in the Schmidt division which they were then assigned after Monday's incorporation. They squared off against eventual CBA champion St Foy led by Dino Barnabe and were soundly thrashed 4 games to 1 despite Dave Justice's .476 batting average and solo heroics. Years later they return to continue there heritage and exact revenge on the Schmidt division.
