Team Entered the league in: 1997-03-01  Malachi Nellum in 2000

2013 season was a great season for the Sox.  We came up a little short during the stretch run, due to the fact that a lot of our leadership where limited do to injuries.  In 2014 we expect to compete in our very tough division again.  We plain on adding a few pieces in the offseason and continue to draft for the future and plug holes.

Catching: Suzuki and Kratz did an ok job.  Suzuki is not panning out as we expected after we signed him to along term deal.  Kratz looks like an excellent backup with some pop.  Coming in from a good AAA season will be former first round pick Mike Zunnino.  We expected him to make the team out of Spring Training.

1b: The loss of Carlos Pena could not be replaced.  Micheal Young and when not DH Billy Butler man theat corner position.  Butler had an outstanding season and we expect more out of this young stud.  Micheal Young had a good season.  Good enough to know we can't replace him in free agency or the draft so we plan to move him back full time to the other corner for 2014.

2b: Dustin Pedroia is a rock at second, enuff said,  Dustin Ackley will continue to work out his kinks in his swing and see a lot of time pinch hitting

ss: Elvis Andrus continues to play solid D and his bat, which is not potent as anyone named troy, continues to be one of the better ss in the league

3b: This position was a revolving door last season, but we feel Mike Y. can solidify this spot until we can do something else

RF: Choo has done an outstanding job as our rf for many years and we don't expect him to slow down.  Matt Joyce is the backup and he thrives off righthand pitching.

CF: Ellsbury couldn't stay healthy in '13, but that open for L. Cain to play and play he did.  The playing experience for can will give us 2 cfers who can go get it.

LF: Carl Crawford had a injury plagued season.  His prescence in our lineup with greatly missed.  He should be healthy and ready to go!  Raul Ibanez was picked up midseason and provided us with some neeeded power.  We hope he can do it again.

Starting pitching: our rotaion has never been strong, but we do have some good arms in the fire.  Burhrle leads this staff.  McCarthy and Kennedy back paddled after a good 2012 season and Hughes we just can't figure out.  It appears that age has caught up with Harang or was he depressed after we traded his best friend off last spring (Arroyo) for Delgado who provided some good innings. Archie Bradley had a monster year in the minors, who my be just a year away.

Bullpen: We figure this to be our stregnth!  Jansen took over as closer in 2013 moving Paplebon to setup man where he didn't respond very well as he blew many leads in the 7th/8th inning. Mujica provided some good middle relief work along with Esmil Rogers and Brandon League. Minor leagurs rosthanal and rodriguez look ready for the show in 2014.

Redsox will listen to any offer on any player, just hit me up on the hotstove

After playing a career low in games in 2014, Michael Young set down with management and asked about his role.  Unhappy of having to prove himself again, Mike has announced his retirement.  Not exactly a sure shot HOF, but definitely a GREAT ball player as his .298 average speaks or itself.  His 111 IBB is a stat that pops out, who would have thunk it?
