1998 was unique. The files thought long lost were rediscovered by Commissioner Marc Wass.. The Individual players stats seemed lost forever and are now intact. 1998 featured CBA's only season using injuries.

With such an amount of games lost, mangers complained and the league office decided to bring the issue to vote. With the voting frenzy of numerous propositions some very drastic usage and player maximums forever altered the CBA's stats in the next 2 years, as maximums were eliminated after 400 AB. Pitchers could go unlimited with an asterisk or 200 innings on 3 days rest. CBA's dead era caused several statistical anomalies which abhorred by todays CBA Strat purists.
There was a wide
discrepancy between winning teams and the losers. Note the Quebec,
Stirling, Tennessee, KC all lost 108 or more. Whereas 3 won 100 or better,
Brooklyn, Hicksville, Southwest. CBA in 1998 brought on talk of
redrafting and making a lot of cuts to restock. This was defeated and
thankfully teams kept their talent, but there would be lean years ahead in CBA's
near future for several franchises after 1998 ended.
